Nico joined the Steinbeck group in May 2026 as a PostDoc affiliated with the Jena Excellence Cluster “Balance of the Microverse”. His part involves developing computational workflows to analyze MS, NMR, and imaging data to investigate microbial interactions.

Nico Domschke is currently in the finishing steps of his PhD in computer science from the University of Leipzig. His PhD work focuses on characterizing the fragmentation and recombination of molecular graphs. Further research interests cover the structure elucidation using tandem mass spectrometry data.

Nico’s background is in organic chemistry; He completed his B.Sc. and M.Sc. in Chemistry at the University of Hamburg in 2019 and 2022, respectively.

Apart from research, Nico enjoys hiking and camping in his time off, visiting local lakes, and playing computer games.
