Franziska works as a project manager in the NFDI4Chem, the chemistry consortium of the German research data infrastructure NFDI.
Interested in nature’s molecular processes, she studied B.Sc. Biochemistry/ Molecular biology, followed by the more chemistry-oriented M.Sc. Chemical Biology at the Friedrich Schiller University (FSU) in Jena. After one year at NTNU in Norway, her enthusiasm for plants and insects guided her to the Max Planck Institute for Chemical Ecology (MPI-CE), where she studied natural products and the ecological interactions of poplar trees. She completed her master’s and later her doctoral thesis, for which she was awarded the Otto Hahn Medal. After a short Postdoc phase, Franziska switched into science coordination, working for the Profile line LIFE at the FSU, as well as at the communication interface between scientists and technical service at the MPI-CE. In January 2023 she joined the NFDI4Chem team, which she supports as a project manager and looks forward to being part of the development process of building up a research data infrastructure for the chemistry community.
In her free time, she enjoys dancing, especially Brazilian Zouk, as well as cooking and gardening. Whenever there’s time, she loves to spend time outside – forest walks, kayaking or mountain hikes.
