Michael Wenk is a scientific researcher (PhD student) at the Friedrich-Schiller-University in Jena, Germany.
He was born in Magdeburg, Germany. After finishing his school education, Michael moved to Halle (Saale), Germany, to study Bioinformatics at the Martin-Luther-University Halle-Wittenberg. His bachelor’s thesis was about the development of a homology-based gene prediction program, as a first approach. During the master’s thesis Michael wrote a program to analyse and score the covalent volume of protein structures as well as possible steric problems.
In 2017, Michael joined the group of Prof. Dr. Christoph Steinbeck at the Friedrich-Schiller-University Jena, Germany. There, he is currently working on an automatic workflow system for computer-assisted structure elucidation (CASE) of unknown chemical compounds.
